Are We the People of YHWH?

According to Deuteronomy 4: 13, the covenant YHWH made with His people the children of Israel, is the Ten Commandments. We see in Galatians 3: 26 that if we have faith in Yahshua, we are also called sons (or children) of YHWH. As children of YHWH, we show our love and obedience to our Father YHWH, by observing the first four commandments. We show our love towards our neighbors, by obeying the last six commandments. Most people who profess faith in Yahshua (Jesus to some), at least try to keep the last six commandments and profess to keep all ten. Others, however say, that Yahshua has done away with the law and that we are free from the "yoke of bondage". We need therefore not keep any Scriptural commandments any longer.

We know that this is not true as Yahshua himself said in Matthew 5 verse 17: "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfil." and 18: "For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass away from the law, until all is accomplish."Let us therefore, examine these commandments to see if we the people who profess to love our Creator, are at least striving to keep all ten of the commandments.

What is wrong with churchianity today? Are they obeying the first four commandments? The different branches of the Assemblies of Yahweh keep the Sabbaths, do not bow down before images, use the Set-apart Names, but believe in two YHWH's or Twinity. The Seventh Day Adventists and the Churches of God keep the Sabbath/s, but still have either a Trinity or Twinity and deny the Set-apart Names of YHWH and Yahshua. The Protestants have three of the four commandments wrong. They do not keep the Sabbath, believe in a Trinity and do not know YHWH's Name. The Catholics have all four the first commandments incorrect. In addition to the three Commandments that the Protestants have incorrect, they bow down before handmade images.

The first commandment according to the word of YHWH reads as follows: "You shall have no other elohims before (or besides) Me". This means that YHWH is ONE - there are therefore not two, three or more separate Almighty Beings, but ONE. Do we believe Him, or do we like some believers say that there are two YHWH's or beings in the Godhead. Or as others say the Godhead consists of a trinity with three persons making up the Godhead? Pagan religions based on sex believe in a father-mother-child trinity. The Babylonians had a triad god called Baal, Semiramis and Tammuz; the Egyptians had Amon Ra, Isis and Osiris; Greece had Zeus, Demeter and Porsephere, to name but a few. Another group even goes, as far as to say that Yahshua was an Angel before His human birth. Are they confused or what? We must understand the reasoning behind this. In our inability to comprehend the Godhead, we try to interpret what we see and read in the Scriptures and according to our limited human conception it does not make sense.

YHWH our Elohim is eternal and infinite. Man's mind cannot understand something, which cannot be defined, or that which is not bordered. This is perhaps why it is so difficult to try to explain the essence of YHWH, whom we know, is boundless and infinite. Anything visible and anything that can be grasped by thought is bounded or finite. Anything finite is not undifferentiated. Conversely, the boundless is infinite. Yahshua has become the "visible" part of the invisible Elohim. YHWH "bordered" certain parts of His being in order that man could relate to Him in some way. Through these parts we can "see" the man Yahshua, certain parts of YHWH bordered in His person. We can understand his words. We can see his compassion, witness his love, and see how he relates to humankind in this manner. He did not put All of Himself within the borders of Yahshua, as that is impossible to place infinity within something finite. Some may correctly ask the question: How then did Yahshua say that His Father is Greater than Him?" The answer is as explained above, the One that walked the earth as a human being, did not have all the attributes of YHWH in His being, and as such His Father being the Infinite YHWH Elohim, was indeed greater than Him.

Instead of trying to understand the infinite, should we not take YHWH our Elohim at His Word? If He says He is ONE, why do we not believe Him - or is He a liar? If YHWH says in the latter part of Is. 44: 6 "...I am the first and the last, And there is no Elohim besides Me", do we believe Him. We know that Yahshua said the same thing a number of times, one of which is recorded in Revelation 1: 17 "Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last," Who then are the First and the Last? How can both be the First and the Last? My fellow disciple, who is lying here? NO! He is not lying, He is as Yahshua stated in John 10:30 "I and the Father are one". After all in the first part of Numbers 23: 19 we read: "Elohim is not a man, that He should lie,"

The one spiritual essence of the Godhead is OMNIPRESENCE. For since space is infinite, and an omnipotent God must be able to act and be anywhere in space. He is always there. YHWH sees us wherever we go. If we go flying like a bird, or even, if we go underground, He sees us there, according to the Psalms. And again in Jer.23: 23 & 24 He says: "Do I not fill the heavens and the earth". So it is possible that He can be in more than one place at the same time, i.e. in heaven and on earth. That is why as a human, Yahshua, being only some of the attributes of YHWH could pray to His Father in Heaven.

Some might ask how is it possible for YHWH our Elohim to sit at His own right hand? The answer lies in His omnipresence. For thirty-three and a half years whilst Yahshua was on earth, there were two manifestations of the One True Elohim. He is now, still as a second manifestation of the One True Elohim, at the right hand of YHWH, where He will remain until He returns to rule over the nations, from Jerusalem, for a thousand years. After the thousand years, the New Jerusalem will come down from Heaven, at which time YHWH will reign forever and ever, as our Elohim. Whilst there are human beings on the earth, Yahshua will be the only way in which the human race can relate to the Father. Once all human beings have been born again as spirit beings, we will see YHWH, as a single manifestation of the One True Elohim and that will only be after the millenium rule of Yahshua

Fellow learners (disciples), we better make sure that we understand and believe that YHWH is One and that there is no Elohim besides Him! In Hosea 13: 4 we read: "Yet I have been YHWH your Elohim since the land of Egypt; And you were not to know any Elohim except Me, for there is no Saviour besides Me."There is no other Deity besides Elohim and no Saviour except Him; Yahshua the Moshiyach is none other than YHWH.

Now let's consider the Second Command. "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I YHWH thy Elohim am a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments."

This is talking about idols. These are made objects or things. It may be a golden calf, which we made for ourselves to worship. It may even be the now very popular golden or silver chain with the figure of a man on a crucifix, which Christians wear as a reflection of their religion - whom they call Jesus. In the time of YAHSHUA there were nothing like photographs and the people amongst whom He lived, did not make pictures or figurines of Him, as they feared that by doing so they will have broken this very commandment. Nobody really knows what YAHSHUA looked like. All we know is that He was Jewish and in all probability had Jewish features, i.e. a fairly prominent nose, with brown eyes and dark brown or black hair. The picture that we see of the person some call Jesus in some Bibles has a refined almost effeminate little nose, pale blue eyes, with long light brown almost blond hair.

Even if we are sure about his looks, this very commandment forbids making an image of Yahshua and bowing down to it. We know that this is what the most prominent Christian Church is doing. Their version of the Ten Commandments has been altered to exclude the Second Commandment. Oh yes, they still have ten but they split the tenth Commandment into two separate Commandments to accomplish this bit of forgery. It is easy for the average Christian to say "but we don't do that".

Think again. Do you spend more time in front of the one eyed god in your house called TV, than what you do worshipping YHWH, or do you spend more time playing golf or going to the movies or washing your car, etc.? Are you drinking or eating too much? What are your excesses? Be very careful, that can develop into your god and idol.

The Third Commandment has to do with the name of YHWH."Thou shalt not take the name of the YHWH thy Elohim in vain; for YHWH will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain". What does the word vain mean? It could mean to use lightly, to destroy or bring to naught, i.e. You are not to ("lash-shawv") use lightly, destroy or bring to naught, the name of YHWH your Elohim, by hiding, refusing to use, and purposely misspelling His name. Also notice the word take or use.

There are so many ways in which we can use the name of YHWH in vain. If for example we keep non-scriptural festivals like Xmas, we twist scripture to fit doctrines of men. No-where in scripture do we find the birth date of our Messiah given, let alone stated as the 25 of December - by keeping the Messiah's birthday, we propagate a lie and use YHWH's name in vain.

Another example of using the name of YHWH our Elohim in vain can be found in the South African judicial system. When we give evidence in a court case, we are suppose to swear an oath on the bible, to indicate that our evidence is true and not a lie. This is perhaps true in most western countries. Whilst on earth our Rabbi said: " Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto YHWH thine oaths: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is Elohim's throne: Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil."We should therefore, not swear by anything, let alone YHWH's Word. How much more the punishment if we do swear on the Word of YHWH, and we know it is a lie (in vain).

In order for the gentile nations not to blaspheme the name of the Elohim of Israel, the Priests of the Hebrew nation changed the vowel points of the name of the Almighty to "Adonai", which was translated in the English Bible as LORD. This happened after the Babylonian captivity. Before the Babylonian captivity, the Sacred Name of our Heavenly Father was used freely in worship. After the captivity the name was totally suppressed by the religious leaders in Judah. This is something they learnt in Babylon, where the Babylonian's suppressed the use of the names of their gods. The name of the Almighty could only be used during Atonement and only by the Priests. The rest of the believers in Israel did not have permission to use the name at all. This was essentially done, because the religious leaders misinterpreted the third commandment, as stated in Exodus 20:7: "Thou shalt not take the name of the YHWH thy Elohim in vain; for YHWH will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain". However by using such names as Adonai and therefore misspelling Elohim's name they are breaking the third Commandment. You are not to ("lash-shawv") use lightly, destroy or bring to naught, the name of YHWH your Elohim, by hiding, refusing to use, and purposely misspelling His name.

Is it important for us today to use the correct name for the Elohim of Israel, the one we believe in? Is it not enough if we in prayer call the Almighty, "God", like almost everyone else on earth does? Most other Religions have names for their deities. The Moslems call their god; Allah and Hindus call their deity, Hare Krishna. What is the name of our El? This is exactly the question asked us in Proverbs 30: 4 "Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? Who hath gathered the wind in his fists? Who hath bound the waters in a garment? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?"

This should be an indication to us that both our El and His Son have names. If they have names, is it not important for us to know and use those names? Is it not in order if we call our Elohim, "Father", as did His son in the model prayer, known as the Lord's prayer? Not according to Malachi 1: 6 "A son honoureth his father and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? And if I be a master, where is my fear? Saith YHWH of hosts unto you, o Priests that despise my name. And ye say wherein have we despised thy name?" The word Father is like God, a title and not a proper name.

The religious leaders of today like the Hebrew Priest after the Babylonian captivity are not giving honor to YHWH's name and has for that reason already brought a curse upon themselves according to Malachi 2: 1 "And now, this commandment is for you, O Priests."And verse 2 "If you do not listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to MY name," says YHWH of hosts. "then I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings; and indeed, I have cursed them already, because you are not taking it to heart."

It is most important that we get to know the correct name of the Almighty and that of His son, as our very survival will depend upon it during the forthcoming time of tribulation, prophesied in many scriptures in the Bible. We read this in Joel 2: 31 & 32 "The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of YHWH come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of YHWH shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as YHWH hath said, and in the remnant whom YHWH shall call'.

If we claim to be the Almighty's people, we should know His name as stated in the first part of Isaiah 52: 6 "Therefore My people shall know My name".However, we must still be careful not to use YHWH's name in everyday language like some people in TV programs do. Perhaps it is a good thing that most do not know the true name of YHWH, as the generic name God, as used by people in TV programs is not the true name. YHWH's name should only be used in prayer, blessings and teachings.

In Exodus 20: 8,9,10 & 11 we read the Sabbath Command as follows: "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of YHWH your Elohim; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. For in six days YHWH made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore YHWH blessed the sabbath day and made it holy."

Do we today, know which day is the Sabbath? Is it possible after so many years after YHWH gave the ten original commandments to His people, to identify which is the Sabbath Day? I would say yes. The Jewish people who are the people of the nation of Judah of the Scriptures are still keeping the original Sabbath day, from Friday evening at sunset to Saturday evening at sunset. This is the Sabbath of YHWH, the seventh day, which YHWH blessed and sanctified after having completed the creation of the heavens and the earth. The Catholics also confirm that they do not keep the Sabbath, being the seventh day of the week, since they keep the first day of the week in honour of the resurrection of Jesus. What we must remember is that only YHWH can sanctify anything. He has declared which are His appointed times in Leviticus 23. We do not have the right as human beings, to proclaim feast days to YHWH. We can read an example where Aaron declared a feast to YHWH in Exodus 32, with dire consequences.

In Hebrews 4: 9 we read that: "There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of Elohim". By keeping the Sabbath we identify ourselves as the people of YHWH. This brings us back to where we started in Galatians 3: 26, which states: "For you are all sons of Elohim through faith in Messiah Yahshua."If we have faith in Yahshua, we believe in Him, i.e. we believe in what He said, whilst He was on earth. As quoted earlier, we read that He said that He has not abolished the Law, but came to fulfil it. Also in Hebrews 13: 8 we see that Yahshua is the same yesterday and today and forever. It is therefore evident that the Sabbath command is still binding on us, the people of YHWH today and forever. If we are truly YHWH's people should we not keep all ten of the Ten Commandments, but most of all the first four, which shows our love to HIM!
